Travel
Walking from the Town Centre
Starting at the Market Place in front of the County Hall, walk up Bury Street precinct and turn left at the end to reach Bath Street where you turn to the right and walk a few yards to reach the crossing point over the main road (Stratton Way). After crossing, keep straight ahead to pass through the gap in the railings into Park Road and continue along this road for 150m until the school gates are on your right. Turn in here and the Theatre will be found 100m ahead on the right hand side.
Public Transport
Abingdon does not have a railway station. Buses stop on Stratton Way from most directions including Oxford. As you step off the bus facing the railings and bus shelters, turn right to walk a few yards to the crossing point of the road. Do not cross over but find the gap in the railings by the crossing, leading into Park Road, and follow the rest of the walking instructions as above.
Cycling
It is possible to dismount and get most bikes through the gap in the railings mentioned above to reach Park Road. Alternatively cycle from Ock Street into Conduit Road and then follow the driving instructions below.
If travelling by car from the North or South on the A34
1. Exit the A34 at the Abingdon (S) Marcham Interchange with the A415 and follow signs for Abingdon Town Centre.
2. Proceed for approximately one mile crossing three roundabouts, after the last (double) roundabout continue for about 150m past the second set of traffic lights and turn left onto Conduit Road.
3. At the crossroads with Park Road, turn right. The main driveway to the school is 600m along Park Road on your left, but the school car park is on the right opposite the main gate. The Amey Theatre is about 100m on the right of the main driveway for dropping off purposes only.
If travelling from Dorchester-on-Thames on the A415
1. Cross the river bridge over the Thames and turn second left at the Market Place into the High Street.
2. Keep to the left-hand lane and carry straight on through two sets of traffic lights following signs for Wantage, Newbury and the A34.
3. 150m past the second set of lights turn right into Conduit Road.
4. Follow step 3 above.
Parking
There is a car park provided by the school for the Amey Theatre which is situated opposite the main gate to the school on Park Road (w3w reference above). Capacity is limited and may be shared when other school events occur at the same time. There are other car parks in the town centre, most within a ten minute walk of the Amey Theatre. Please follow the walking directions above from Town Centre as the walking route is much shorter than the driving route. For details of other car parks please use the information page of the District Council website here
Parking is not permitted on the sides of the roads around the school such as Park Road and the road around Albert Park. Clamping is in operation in these areas.
